Set up in 1974 by the Government of Kerala, India, to develop steel-based industries and services in Kerala, SILK today is an IR 700 million asset base organisation. SILK and its subsidiaries form a powerful combination of Products, Projects and Engineering services for various customers.

SILK subsidiaries :-
1)	Autokast Limited is a modern foundry, 18,000 MT/annum capacity of cast iron, SG iron and alloy iron castings, has 80 mould per hour fully automated High pressure moulding line, 150 MT per day Liquid metal production shop with Electric arc and Induction melting furnaces.
2)	Steel and Industrial Forgings Limited, the other subsidiary is a 7,500 MT per year facility for alloy and carbon steel die forgings upto 250 kg single piece and equipped with 10 tonne and 6 tonne Hammers, 1,000 MT Rovetta trimming press, Heat Treatment Lines, Die shop and Copy milling facility.

SILK an integrated consortium of people and facilities, growing from strength to strength and into new thrust areas and services into generation of pollution free energy, environmental engineering, manufacture of Hydraulic turbines and equipments, Small sea going vessels, Industrial valve castings, Radial gates, thus moving beyond steel.
