We introduce ourselves as a steel based industry situated in
Kerala state,
in the southern tip of India. The company is fully owned by the Government of
Kerala. The main activities of the company are manufacturing of Steel forgings,
Cast Iron, S. G. Iron and Steel castings, Steel and Structural fabrication,
Ship-breaking,and building of small ocean going Vessels and Barges. Besides
these SILK has four divisions with service functions like Civil construction,
Assembly and installation of Diesel generating sets, Trading of Iron and Steel
items, a Power Engineering Division and a Project Engineering and Export
Division.Power Engineering Division of SILK established in 1989 is engaged in Design,
Engineering,
Manufacture, Erection and Commissioning of small/mini/micro Hydel generating
plants on turnkey basis. The division under- takes power generation on a "water
to wire" basis. In other words the division takes the full responsibility
of small/mini/micro hydel projects on a "concept to commissioning"
basis. Hydel projects ranging from 10 KW to 3000 KW have already been
commissioned and some more are in the varoius stages of implementation.SILK intends to absorb the most modern technological practices and the latest cost effective developments in the field of small/mini/micro Hydel turbine power plant systems from 10 KW to 10 MW range covering all types of turbines viz. Initially a few turbines/sub-assemblies/components may be imported and with the excellent infrastructure existing with the company, manufacturing will be taken up with design and technical support of such collaborators. Transfer of technology and technical know-how is anticipated in due course. Suitable compensation package, terms and conditions can be worked out on mutual discussions and agreement can be made.
